Pattisson won two Olympic gold medals and one Olympic silver medal in the 'Flying Dutchman' class - a two-man, 20 ft long dinghy. Pattisson won his first Olympic gold medal with Iain MacDonald Smith at the Mexico Olympics in 1968. In six races, they came first five times and second once, incurring only three penalty points and the lowest ever score in an Olympic regatta. He won a second Olympic gold medal in Munich in 1972 with Christopher Davies. He followed this with a silver medal, sailing with Julian Brooke Haughton, in Montreal in 1976.
